Following the move of its sister company, Xiaomi, Segway offers the Ninebot eMoped C. Similar to the Xiaomi A1 and A1 Pro, the eMoped is an electric scooter with pedals, allowing the ride to keep going ever after the battery is depleted. The newest is the C30, the company’s smallest-capacity model, offering mobility in an affordable price.

The eMoped C series has riding ranges from 40 to 80 kilometers, and a top speed of 25 km/h, regardless of the model. They’re powered by lithium ion batteries, in varying capacities depending on the model. They tip the scales between 52 – 55 kg.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via an electrified hub. Since it has pedals, there’s also a chain drive like a conventional bicycle. The bike rolls on tubeless tires and is brought to a stop with a disc in front and a drum brake in the back. They integrate regenerative braking technology to recoup energy and recharge the battery when slowing down.

For the rider, there’s a digital screen that shows the battery level and speed. It only uses a two-button system for easy operation. Of course, the bike also comes with LED lighting.

With the growing popularity of electric kick scooters and mopeds locally, the Segway Ninebot eMoped C will likely make it onto our shores very soon. In the US, the eMoped C30 is offered for as little as US$512 (PhP25,300) making it very appealing as a commuting vehicle.
